18 weeks

How far along: 18w1d
Total weight gain/loss: +6 pounds
How big is Baby: Baby is about the size of a sweet potato, or 5.6 inches long!

Maternity Clothes: I love them! My newest purchase: a long black Liz Lange dress. It really shows off the bump.
Sleep: Sleep is okay. I wake up to pee and two or three times to turn over.
Movement: Still waiting {anxiously} for some definite movement!
Food cravings: Italian food, which I had lots of at my family's restaurant. Philly cheesesteaks. Any kind of Mexican food. Ice cream.

Gender: It's a BOY!
Symptoms: Round Ligament Pain. Morning sickness. Vivid dreams. Feeling dizzy & off balance. Peeing all.the.time.
Best moment this week: This past week was a tough one with my Grandpa passing and the funeral. It was great to see my family though. I haven't seen some of them for a very long time.
What I am looking forward to: Friday's ultrasound {anatomy scan}!!! I am so, so excited to see him again and hopefully get a great report on him & my second trimester b/w. Feeling him move! Agreeing on a name :)

Cherish Every Moment

My friend shared this story with me, after I thanked her again for taking the videos at my wedding. It moved me to tears. It's a great reminder to cherish every moment you have and to never get too busy to take photos and videos of the ones we love. They may be the most cherished memories we have of them.

A Letter on My Doorstep: Portraits are more than paper

We are off to Arizona tomorrow morning to spend the weekend with my Dad's side of the family, and attend my Grandpa's service on Monday. Thank you to everyone for your kind words.

xoxo,
Megan

I love you, Poppy

My Grandpa passed away last night. I knew that things were not looking good, but we thought we had time to make it out this weekend. We didn't. I will miss him so much, and I will make sure that our son knows his Great Grandfather well. He had a very strong faith and he went peacefully, so I take comfort in that. I will miss seeing him at the beach every July, and the birthday and Christmas cards he sent me. He never missed one :)

17 weeks

How far along: 17w
Total weight gain/loss: +4 pounds
How big is Baby: Baby is about the size of an onion, or 5.1 inches long!

Maternity Clothes: Yes! I love them! I bought two pairs of workout pants. So comfy.
Sleep: Sleep is okay. I still wake up on my back sometimes and it's getting more & more uncomfortable.
Movement: I think I felt a tiny bit of something. It felt like bubbles. I can't wait to feel more movement!
Food cravings: Chicken Fried Rice. Vons Turkey & swiss sandwich. Peanut butter M&M's. This has been a blah week with food.
Food aversions: Nothing specific, but things aren't sounding good again. I've had trouble deciding on what to eat.
Gender: It's a BOY!
Symptoms: Round Ligament Pain. Some nausea. Vivid dreams. Emotional. Feeling off balance.
Best moment this week: No specific moments this week, but I have some of my energy back and that feels good.
What I am looking forward to: Same as last week: Feeling him move!!! And agreeing on a name :)

My emotions have really taken over this week. I have been crying a lot. I had a horrible nightmare that I went into labor way too soon and lost our baby. Then I sat on the computer Friday night, watching wedding videos my sweet friend Rachel took for us {thank goodness for her! If there was one thing I could change about our wedding, it would be to have hired a videographer. The videos she took mean the world to me and I can never thank her enough.} I was laughing and enjoying them, and then my Grandparents appeared in one of them, dancing together. It was my Grandpa that we lost a few months after our wedding way too soon from cancer, the one I wasn't able to truly say goodbye to. I lost it and couldn't stop crying. I have cried many times since that day, but this time was different. It was intense and I was home alone. All I kept thinking was "what I wouldn't give to have just one more day with him."

My Grandpa on my Dad's side has been ill and his health is declining. We are going to drive out to see him this weekend since we don't really know how much longer he has. It will be good to see family and spend some quality time with him.

Megan

Names. Ugh.

Boy names are tough! Don't get me wrong, I love that we are having a boy. We just can't find a boy name we both like. We both have very generic names, so I am trying to avoid anything too common. I also don't want anything too strange. Kids can be mean. I even second guess the names I like. Yes, I am probably over-thinking this {typical Megan}, but come on, this is someone's name. That's a big deal.

We started with two lists; mine and Nick's. I narrowed my list down to four or five names and went through Nick's list and added any of his that I liked to my list. As of right now, we have one list of eight names. I asked Nick what his favorite(s) are and he said he doesn't like any of them haha. ::sigh::

The next step? Ask everyone we know to send us name ideas, scour the internet for more names we like and make a new list. Nick is in the mindset "we have 6 months to decide, no rush", where I am in the mindset "oh my gosh, we cannot agree on a name, what are we going to do, we need to figure this out sooner rather than later, ahhhhhhh." Typical of both of us. We balance each other out so well :)

Any suggestions? We need all the help we can get, and you might think of a name we haven't.

Megan

Nursery Updates

 THE ROOM
We have made some progress on the room. I emptied everything out, removed the baseboards and cleaned up the floors. The room was pretty gross. I guess that's expected when our furkid was living in it ;) My co-worker is going to start patching, painting and new baseboards in the next few weeks. We also had an A/C guy out to give us a quote on a new system.

 FURNITURE
My sweet Mom bought me my glider :) We found it at her local consignment store. It's a brand new Newco Channel Glider Chair in Tan Chenille. It retails for around $789 and we paid $239! It is super comfortable, which was the most important part for me. We also bought a bright pink gliding ottoman for $100. I love the tufted top. We are going to have the ottoman re-upholstered in black.

DECOR
I went shopping and found a few things I loved:

Fun mirror. I may paint the frame.
You can see the Chevron rug has arrived. It's huge! I don't want to remove it from it's protective plastic until the room is painted.

I bought a safari origami kit. I am going to attempt to make my own crib mobile.

ART
We bought three 11x14 prints from Etsy seller Corina St. Martin. Nick and I fell in love with these gorgeous, bright paintings.

Can you tell what our theme is for the room? :)

PAINT
We haven't decided on a wall color yet, so I am going to try some samples.

Mythic's Autumn Bloom {green/yellow color}:

Behr's Sea Song {aqua/blue color}:

Benjamin Moore's Stonington Gray {light grey color}

Or maybe stripes?! :)

I can't make up my mind on the paint!!!!

14 weeks

 Happy Momma at 14w2d :)

How far along: 14 weeks, 2 days. Officially in the second trimester and feeling great!
Total weight gain/loss: + 1 pound
How big is Baby: Baby is about the size of a lemon, or 3.4 inches long!

Maternity Clothes: Yes! I love them! I need more shirts and comfy lounge pants.
Sleep: Sleep is good. I wake up once or twice a night to pee. The Leachco Back and Belly pillow was not for me. I need to be able to use my own head pillow and most of the pregnancy pillows don't allow that. I might try this regular body pillow instead.
Movement: Not yet. I can't wait!
Food cravings: Sandwiches, salads, peanut butter, fruit, yogurt, cereal.
Food aversions: Nothing in particular.
Gender: We are 90% sure baby is a BOY! Our elective gender scan is on Monday to confirm.
Symptoms: If I don't eat first thing in the morning, then I feel nauseous. I waited too long Sunday morning and threw up everything. I learned that lesson and have felt great since. Eat, eat, eat :)
Best moment this week: Eating Korean BBQ and a cheeseburger haha. I am very excited to be eating meat again!
What I am looking forward to: Seeing baby next week and confirming he is a boy. I am also having a lot of fun planning the nursery. I love Pinterest :)
