I was sitting in L&D, when they told me I needed an emergency c-section. Look how bloated (and terrified) I was!
Literally an hour later, baby Grayson was born.
I was so happy to see him that first time, despite the shakes and the nausea.
The next day, holding my son.
Our first family photo.
I haven't shared any of these photos before. I was a hot mess, but I am so happy to have these memories captured forever. Is it crazy that I am already excited for baby #2?!
I can't believe how quickly my little man is growing up. Sadface. Several times in the last week I have stopped to stare at him a little longer, hold him a little tighter, and kiss him a little more, because I know this stage won't last long. And I will miss it so much.
I am spending five months with him, full time. I thought I would be ready to go back to work in January. Now I am feeling so anxious about it. I am going to miss him. I know I can't be a stay-at-home Mom, but the thought of going to work is killing me. In the meantime, we are signing up for swimming lessons next month. The place we are going is really neat, they have heated indoor pools for the babies and they start lessons at 3 months old. I absolutely love the water and he seems to as well, so I am really looking forward to it. Plus he will be comfortable in the water, just in time for our Cancun trip in December.
He is at a really great stage right now - sleeping through the night like a champ, having good evenings, smiling and "talking" to me all day long, and learning something new every day. I love being his Mom more than anything else in this world.
Visiting Oak Glen for our annual trip to pick apples and pumpkins
Hanging out in his Bumbo.
He loves to sit up already. He gets upset if you lay him down, even propped up on the Boppy.
My little man is two months old. Time is flying by and he is changing SO MUCH!
He loves:
The boob. He still loves to eat and is exclusively breast fed. I am pretty darn proud of that too. He tends to cluster feed in the evenings, but otherwise he nurses every 3 hours during the day.
His hands. He has discovered them and loves to suck on them.
His rainforest play mat.
Music. He especially loves his Fisher Price Soothe and Glow Seahorse.
Bath time. I think he is going to love the water like I do.
He loves when we smile and talk to him. He especially likes to watch his Dad whenever he is doing something nearby.
Being in the Ergo.
Rocking in his baby swing or seat. And he recently discovered the spinning animals above him. He smiled and talked to them. So cute.
He still loves being swaddled and I put him in his wrap every night to sleep.
He is definitely a morning person. He is always very happy in the mornings.
He likes to stand. He does squats and jumps, and even walks.
He does NOT like:
When he grabs his own face too roughly.
The bulb syringe.
Being cold.
His fussy time is typically between 7pm and bedtime.
Other tidbits about being two months old:
He spits up a lot! :/ Notice the towel I have on my lap in the picture above. I usually leave him in just a diaper while we are home since his outfits end up soaked otherwise. The pediatrician said as long as he is gaining weight and doesn't appear to be in pain that it's totally normal. I am definitely looking forward to him outgrowing this.
He is beginning to find his voice. He yells, coos and makes a sound that sounds like "owww." He loves to talk!
His smile still completely melts my heart, and he is giving us lots of them these days. Happy baby. He has a dimple on one cheek too. I die!
I can tell that he is much more aware of what is going on around him. He sees us and seems to understand that we give him food/comfort/love/etc. He also stops fussing when he hears/sees me putting on the breast feeding pillow, like he understands that food is coming shortly. Because of this new awareness, he also knows the difference if I am holding him or not ;)
He is wonderful when we take him places. He has been everywhere - restaurants, the pool, the beach, the fair, Disneyland, the malls, on a train, to a polo match. Everyone tries to tell you that "your life is over" when you have a baby. Pshh. We showed them!
Happy baby at the polo match.
He is wearing 0-3 month, 3 month and 3-6 month clothes.
He is wearing size 1 diapers.
The most exciting thing - he is sleeping through the night! He typically goes down around 10pm and gets up around 6am. Yahoo :)
It truly is. I have never been so happy in my life, enjoying each day with my husband and son.
G has been busy!
Hanging out with Dad...
And Mom.
And Nana, at the pool.
He is such a happy baby :)
I cannot imagine life without this little man.
We are going to my Grandma's ranch this weekend to visit with family and watch a polo match. It will be Grayson's first vacation. I love that we can share the ranch with him. I grew up visiting there, Nick and I were married there and now G can experience this place we love so much.
I had my six week check up with my OB on Tuesday. Everything looked great so I was cleared for exercise and taken off of pelvic rest. Woohoo! I have already done a few nights of CrossFit with Nick and it feels great. Once Nick's broken hand heals and it cools down, we can mountain bike again.
I can't believe how big my belly was at 39 weeks! I miss it sometimes. I ended the pregnancy at 225 lbs (yikes!) and now I am 190 lbs, so 35 lbs lost so far. My goal is to lose another 25 to 30 lbs. We are going to Cancun in December with my in-laws and I would love to look better in my bathing suit :) I'm so excited! It will be Grayson's first flight.
Grayson also had his six week check up yesterday. He weighed 11lbs 10 oz and was 22 3/4 inches long. He is doing wonderful. The doctor was very happy with everything. He is gaining weight, growing in length, has a very strong neck, is smiling and cooing at us and can see us all the way across a big room now. All the expected milestones :) He had his first shots and he was a champ.
We love this little guy so much. Parenthood is amazing!
Here he is standing up, playing on the computer :)
That's how long Grayson slept last night!!!! Yesterday was rough. G was having a very fussy day and I was alone for 8 hours. He napped once in the morning and then was up ALL day. And nothing made him happy. I swaddled and fed him at 10pm and put him to bed, terrified that the fussiness would continue into the night. I woke up at 3am to silence. I listened for some grunts to make sure he was alive (silence is scary at 3am for a new momma!) I fell back asleep and woke up again at 6am. My little man slept through the night at 5 1/2 weeks old! It was a nice plus to the crazy day we had.
Hi everyone! I haven't been on my computer in a week. Time is flying and we've been busy enjoying our time together as a family of three. Nick went back to work today - boo :( Thankfully, we have lots of fun stuff planned for the weekends and soon it will be Fall, my favorite time of year. Cooler weather, apple picking and the holidays - yay!
We sure love this little guy and cannot imagine life without him. Nothing else matters anymore and nothing brings me more joy than seeing him smile at me. I'll leave you with some photos of G...
